How much space do I need?
For commercial office space a good general guide on the amount of space you will need is 10sqm per person plus 10sqm per small meeting room and 10sqm for a basic reception area. This allows for a small number of enclosed offices also.
To give you a bit of perspective, government office space requirements are an average of 14sqm per person, whereas stockbrokers and other low circulation office users can work with as little as 7sqm per person. The 10sqm per person is a good general guide to use with efficient space and well laid out partitioning. For more awkward layouts or a more comfortable space, 12sqm per person may be used.
On the 10sqm per person rule a five person office including a reception area, meeting room and two enclosed offices would need 70sqm of efficient space to provide a workable layout.
